Houston County nonprofits prepare for Houston County Gives Day | Community Spirit
Dothan, AL Over 18 area nonprofits will gather on January 8 at 1 p.m. at the Wiregrass Foundation to discuss plans for the upcoming Houston County Gives Day. This annual event reaches out to the general public and promotes a day of giving to local organizations. The day offers a chance to make an impact during the 24-hour event which also features online giving.
The overall goal is to raise thousands of dollars in one day for the participating Wiregrass nonprofits. Other states including Minnesota, Colorado and Ohio have held successful Gives Days by spreading the word throughout the media.

Houston County Gives Day is a 24-hour event starting at midnight on February 5 and concluding on February 6 at 11:59 p.m. Through the combined marketing efforts of the media and participating nonprofits, local donors will be driven to a central website to make their gift. Consumers will choose the nonprofit they wish to support and make their gift. Nonprofits will receive the contact information for their donors so they can continue to cultivate support after the event.
