Dothan woman arrested on child abuse charges

On May 20, 2013 the Dothan Police Department made a felony arrest, following a recent investigation into a child abuse complaint made by the Department of Human Resources. Investigators say they were made aware of the complaint after a juvenile reported to school with injuries to the face and torso. Through questioning of the juvenile, it was determined the markings were left there as a result of abuse received from the mother, Camille Fields. Fields has  been arrested and the case will now be handled by the Department of Human Resources.

Camille Dorit Fields, black female, 28 years of age, of Robindale Drive was arrested and charged with “Torture and Willful abuse of a child under 18 years of age by a responsible adult”. Her bond has been set at $50,000.

All persons arrested are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Union Springs woman arrested for allegedly passing a forged check in Auburn

 

On Tuesday, May 21, 2013 the Auburn Police Division arrested Jamea A. Mason, 33, of Union Springs, Alabama, on warrants charging her with two counts of Possession of a Forged Instrument 2nd Degree.  Mason’s arrest stems from the investigation of a police report dated January 2012 in which a Union Springs resident stated that someone stole personal checks from her and then passed them at an Auburn business.  Mason was transported from the Houston County jail where she was being held on an unrelated charge to the Lee County Detention Center where she is currently being held on a $6,000 bond.

Dothan man arrested on charges of violating the Community Notification Act

On May 17, 2013 the Dothan Police Department arrested Shelly Newton after confirming he worked at a local business too close to a school. He also no longer lived at a residence where he was listed as a registered sex offender.

The Dothan Police Department will continue to monitor all listed sex offenders and prosecute those persons not in compliance with the laws of the state.

Shelly Newton, black male, 41 years of age, of Morgan Street arrested and charged with three counts of violating the Community Notification Act.  Newton’s bond amounts total $45,000.

Dothan woman arrested and charged with domestic violence

On May 12, 2013 the Dothan Police Department responded to the 1000 block of Montgomery Highway in reference to a motor vehicle collision. Upon arrival, officers found the victim and suspect car in the parking-lot of the Piggly Wiggly grocery store with extensive damage. Officers were advised the suspect Starlena Frazier and the victim (a black female) entered the parking-lot in their cars at a high rate of speed. The victim ran into the business and was followed by Frazier, who then began assaulting her.

An Investigator with the Criminal Investigation Division was called to the scene and through witnesses, victim and suspect statements has now determined the incident to be a domestic violence complaint that began nearby on Greentree Street. Investigators say that Frazier crashed into the victims vehicle, then chased her to the grocery store parking-lot prior to assaulting her.

Dothan man arrested on theft of property charges

On May 9, 2013 the Dothan Police Department made a felony arrest following a recent theft of property investigation. Investigator say Tyrone Salter took a debit card belonging to the victim and withdrew over $500 in cash from an ATM without that person’s permission. Salter knew the victim and had knowledge of that subject’s access number, allowing him to access the account. Salter’s arrest now brings this case to a close.

Tyrone Antwain Salter, black male, 21 years of age, of Virginia Drive was arrested and charged with second degree Theft of Property. Salter’s bond amount has been set at $15,000. 

All persons arrested are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Fired hotel worker accused of destroying property

 

DOTHAN, AL - On May 8, 2013 the Dothan Police Department made a felony arrest after responding to a criminal mischief complaint at the Country Hearth Inn and Suites, located at 3011 Ross Clark Circle.

Investigators say Russell Martell was an employee of the hotel, who was recently fired. After being terminated, Martell was seen leaving a section of the hotel where witnesses found multiple pieces of property destroyed.

Martell was questioned about the incident and admitted to destroying the property. His arrest now brings this case to a close.

Martel, 50, of Connecticut was arrested and charged with first degree Criminal Mischief.

Martel’s bond has been set at $5,000.

On May 8, 2013 the Dothan Police Department arrested Daxshryl Butler after confirming he no longer lived at a residence where he was listed as a registered sex offender.

The Dothan Police Department will continue to monitor all listed sex offenders and prosecute those not in compliance with the laws of the state.

 

·        Daxshryl Martiece Butler, black male, 36 years of age, of Edgefield Drive was arrested and charged with violating the Community Notification Act.  A bond amount was set at $5,000.
