Dothan man arrested on drug charges

On May 24, 2013, the Dothan Police Department responded to the 200 block of Melrose Lane on what was originally believed to be a trespassing complaint at a residential home.

Upon arrival at the residence, officers met with a white female juvenile and Jimmy Gentle II. Gentle II stated he was moving things for the owner and had permission to be at the home while the owner was gone. The officers were allowed to inspect the inside of the home and located what they knew to be marijuana. Through further investigation, the officers determined the marijuana belonged to the juvenile, but had been provided to her by Gentle II.

Jimmy Earl Gentle II was taken into custody and has been charged with Furnishing a Controlled Substance by persons over the age of 18, to persons under the age of 18, bringing this case to a close.

Dothan man arrested on assault charges

On May 25, 2013, an officer with the Dothan Police Department conducted a field interview with Terrance Lee, in the 1300 block of Alexander Drive while responding to a disorderly conduct complaint in the 1500 block.

While attempting to perform a “safety pat-down” of Wright, Wright placed his hand into his pants pocket and attempted to remove a 9 millimeter handgun. After a brief struggle with Wright, the officer was able to separate Wright from the weapon. Wright fled the scene, but was later apprehended at a relative’s home nearby.

Terrance Wright was taken into custody and charged with Attempted Assault First Degree with more charges pending.

Terrance Lee Wright, black male, 21 years of age, of Cynthia Drive was arrested and charged with Attempted Assault First Degree. A bond has been set at $30,000.

All persons arrested are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Kinsey woman arrested on theft of property charges

On May 26, 2013, the Dothan Police Department made a felony arrest following a recent theft of property complaint.

Investigators say the victim used the restroom of a local business and mistakenly left her wallet inside the room. As the victim left the restroom, she passed a woman now identified as Tammy Leon. Realizing she’d left the wallet, the victim turned and waited for Leon to exit the restroom. As Leon opened the door, the victim looked inside and saw the wallet was no longer where she’d left it. When asked about the wallet, Leon denied seeing or taking it. The victim contacted the Dothan Police Department while Leon was still at the business.

Dothan man arrested on charges of distribution of a controlled substance to a minor

On May 23, 2013 the Dothan Police Department made a felony arrest following a recent investigation involving a juvenile and narcotics use. Investigators say a 15 year old juvenile was taken to the Southeast Alabama Medical Center after complaining of chest pains and shortness of breath. A medical examination revealed the juveniles medical condition was a result of recent marijuana use. Hospital personnel then notified the Dothan Police Department and through further investigation it was determined that the marijuana was given to the juvenile by a neighbor, Timothy Barnes.

Timothy Bernard Barnes, black male, 28 years of age, of Sturgeon Court was arrested and charged with Distribution of a Controlled Substance to a Minor. Barnes has a bond set at $150,000.

All persons arrested are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Dothan woman arrested on child abuse charges

Dothan woman arrested on child abuse charges

On May 20, 2013 the Dothan Police Department made a felony arrest, following a recent investigation into a child abuse complaint made by the Department of Human Resources. Investigators say they were made aware of the complaint after a juvenile reported to school with injuries to the face and torso. Through questioning of the juvenile, it was determined the markings were left there as a result of abuse received from the mother, Camille Fields. Fields has  been arrested and the case will now be handled by the Department of Human Resources.

Camille Dorit Fields, black female, 28 years of age, of Robindale Drive was arrested and charged with “Torture and Willful abuse of a child under 18 years of age by a responsible adult”. Her bond has been set at $50,000.

All persons arrested are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Union Springs woman arrested for allegedly passing a forged check in Auburn

 

On Tuesday, May 21, 2013 the Auburn Police Division arrested Jamea A. Mason, 33, of Union Springs, Alabama, on warrants charging her with two counts of Possession of a Forged Instrument 2nd Degree.  Mason’s arrest stems from the investigation of a police report dated January 2012 in which a Union Springs resident stated that someone stole personal checks from her and then passed them at an Auburn business.  Mason was transported from the Houston County jail where she was being held on an unrelated charge to the Lee County Detention Center where she is currently being held on a $6,000 bond.

Dothan man arrested on charges of violating the Community Notification Act

On May 17, 2013 the Dothan Police Department arrested Shelly Newton after confirming he worked at a local business too close to a school. He also no longer lived at a residence where he was listed as a registered sex offender.

The Dothan Police Department will continue to monitor all listed sex offenders and prosecute those persons not in compliance with the laws of the state.

Shelly Newton, black male, 41 years of age, of Morgan Street arrested and charged with three counts of violating the Community Notification Act.  Newton’s bond amounts total $45,000.
