Books-A-Million manager arrested for employee fraud

On April 4, 2013 the Dothan Police Department made a felony arrest following a recent theft investigation. Investigators say Sara Knight used her position as the general manager of Books-A-Million to clock her friend in as an employee, who was never employed with the business. An internal investigation was conducted by the business and showed that between January 7 and March 27, 2013 Knight took approximately $1,300.00. Knight’s arrest now brings this case to a close.

  • Sara Michelle Knight, white female, 30 years of age, of Slocomb, Alabama was arrested and charged with second degree Theft of Property. Knight’s bond has been set at $2,500. All persons arrested are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Two arrested, one sought in residential burglary

On April 3, 2013 the Dothan Police Department made two felony arrests following the recent investigation of a Burglary that occurred the previous day. Investigators say on April 2, 2013 Cortavious Byrd, Gerald Birmingham Jr. and Calvin Cochran Jr. forcefully entered a home on Mona Drive, robbed the occupant at gun-point and took an undisclosed amount of U.S. currency before leaving the residence. Investigators have arrested Byrd and Birmingham and are now seeking the assistance of the community in locating Cochran Jr.

  • Cortavious Jamar Byrd, black male, 20 years of age, of Kinsey, Alabama was arrested and charged with first degree Burglary. His bond has been set at $350,000. All persons arrested are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Police searching for bank robbery suspect

DOTHAN, AL (WSFA) - Dothan Police are searching for a suspect after someone walked into the Sun South Bank on Jamestown Blvd. this afternoon and robbed it.

Preliminary descriptions of the suspect depict a white male approximately 6 feet tall wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with an orange bandanna over his face.

This man was last seen running west from the business.

Dothan police say they are searching for this suspect and will provide updates as they come available.

Dothan Police arrrest Slocomb woman on theft of property charges

On March 26, 2013 the Dothan Police Department responded to Lowes department store located at 2671 Ross Clark Circle in reference to a theft complaint involving an employee. Upon arrival, officers were advised that an internal investigation was started on Carla Lee after management suspected she was conducting fraudulent transactions using discarded sales receipts. Investigators say Lee began making the transactions in February and continued until she was recently confronted by the loss prevention officer of the business. Carla Lee was arrested and charged with second degree Theft of Property bringing this case to a close.

Carla Jill Lee, white female, 40 years of age, of Slocomb, Alabama was arrested and charged with second degree Theft of Property. The bond has been set at $2,500.

All persons arrested are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Ozark woman arrested on theft of property charges in Dothan

On March 27, 2013 the Dothan Police Department responded to the Cannon gas station located at 854 N. Oates Street, in reference to a theft complaint involving an employee. Upon arrival, officers were advised that an internal investigation was started on Andrea Clark after management suspected she was taking money from the business.

Investigators say between February 26, 2013 and March 26, 2013 Clark sold items to customers but would put the money from the transaction into her purse instead of the register. Andrea Clark was arrested and charged with first degree Theft of Property bringing this case to a close.

Andrea Nichole Clark, black female, 29 years of age, of Ozark, Alabama was arrested and charged with first degree Theft of Property. The bond has been set at $5,000.

All persons arrested are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Dothan woman arrested and charged with theft of property

On March 25, 2013 the Dothan Police Department began an investigation into a stolen vehicle complaint involving Courtney McBride. Investigators say McBride took possession of a vehicle that did not belong to her and when contacted by the victim, she refused to return it. The victim’s vehicle was declared stolen and a warrant was issued for McBride’s arrest.

On March 26, 2013 investigators were contacted by deputies with the Cobb County (Ga.) Sheriff’s office stating the vehicle was recovered and McBride had been arrested. The recovery of the vehicle and McBride’s arrest now brings this case to a close.

Courtney Danielle McBride, black female, 29 years of age, of Daniel Circle was arrested and charged with first degree Theft of Property with a $5,000 bond.

All persons arrested are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Dothan man arrested on theft of property charges

On March 25, 2013 the Dothan Police Department began an investigation into a stolen vehicle complaint involving Kevin Saffold. Investigators say Saffold took possession of a vehicle that did not belong to him and when contacted by the victim, he refused to return it. The victim’s vehicle was declared stolen and a warrant was issued for Saffold’s arrest. On March 26, 2013 investigators were contacted by deputies with the Cobb County (Ga.) Sheriff’s office stating the vehicle was recovered and Saffold had been arrested. The recovery of the vehicle and Saffold’s arrest now brings this case to a close.

Kevin Saffold, black male, 45 years of age, of Meharris Circle was arrested and charged with first degree Theft of Property with a $5,000 bond.

All persons arrested are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
