Daycare bus rolls over driver, strikes residence | News

DOTHAN, AL (WSFA) - The Dothan Police Department is trying to track down guardians of children aboard a daycare bus that ran over its own driver before hitting a residence this afternoon.

According to a release from DPD, officers responded to a daycare bus crash in the 2300 block of Denton Road at 2:46 p.m. today. A preliminary investigation revealed that the driver of the bus brought the vehicle to a full stop and exited the vehicle in front of the daycare. When the driver stepped out, the bus began to roll backwards. When the driver attempted to re-enter the bus, he was run over by the vehicle. The driver sustained moderate injuries.

The bus continued to roll in reverse crossing Denton Road and Briarwood Drive where it collided with a residence. There were eight children on board at the time of the crash, none of them were injured.

All children involved were safely returned to the daycare facility to await their parents or guardians.
