17th-ranked Huntingdon ends season with loss to Adrian

17th-ranked Huntingdon ends season with loss to Adrian

The Huntingdon Hawks took a 16-point lead going into the fourth quarter on Saturday. But four Huntingdon turnovers in the final 15 minutes helped Adrian College rally for a 17-16 win at Samford Stadium.

A win on Saturday would have kept Huntingdon’s playoff hopes alive.

“I don’t know that I’ve ever been more disappointed in an outcome. This was a special group. What these seniors accomplished here in four years was impressive and I hate it ended the way it did,” Huntingdon head coach Mike Turk said. “We played well enough to win for most of the game, but we didn’t play well in the fourth quarter. We turned the ball over four times in the fourth quarter and when you do that, most of the time you’re not going to win.

“You have to give credit to Adrian. They’ve got a good team and they don’t give up.  They did what they needed to do today and they definitely took advantage of our mistakes.
