Photo Gallery | Hundreds of children attend 'Fishing with Angels'

HOUSTON CO., AL (WSFA) - Instead of spending time in the classroom, children got to have a splash in the great outdoors at the annual event, "Fishing with Angels."

Joe Phillips started the event to honor his granddaughter who had special needs. Now, 12 years later, more than 300 kids converge on this Houston County pond to get to reelin'.

The pond has been stocked with more than 2,000 fish specifically for this event. If you'd like to help keep with tradition - you can purchase the fish caught for $2 per pound to keep the event open to kids in the future. Call 334-522-3670 to learn more.
